Tod was ready with a pot of coffee and a pile of beechwood blanks when six of us arrived at his home/shop in suburban Marion, Indiana for a Saturday workshop. Tod works as an agent for the Dept. of Agriculture, but he's also earned a national reputation as a planemaker. He teaches hands-on classes about planes and planemaking tools. This Saturday, he was instructing us on how to produce coffin smoothing planes. It would take us all day to finish our planes.
