"Country" Queen Anne Side Table
  An Introduction to Cabriole Legs

During the Home Craftsmen Forum sponsored November 20th Saturday Workshop, we'll explore Queen Anne style. Our pattern is a simple pine table plan that appeared in  Mechanix Illustrated twenty years ago.  (There is a fee for the material kit. Cost yet to be determined.) The design of the  MI table, along with the right tools, makes our project for November relatively easy. The cabriole legs shown aren't hard to make because carving and turning isn't required.

In a five-hour session, we will use the Westfield high school shop's band saws and spindle sanders to  shape a set of legs and a table's apron.  (The school's rasps and spokeshaves are available, but bring your own if you have them. Students don't leave them very sharp.) Turned pad feet are optional if you're comfortable with a lathe, but the table looks just as nice with a three pointed foot as shown in the picture. By Saturday afternoon, you will be ready to take your project home to finish sanding the legs and to add your own top, which won't be supplied with the material kit.
