-Letter from the President-

To HCF Members,

I am looking forward to serving as your President this year.  In the last year, the Forum has grown in membership and has expanded the educational opportunities available to its members.  The future of the Forum is looking bright.

For the Forum to continue to improve and grow to better service its membership, there is a lot of work to be done in the year ahead.  We need to develop a marketing plan to get the word out about the Forum and what we offer.  I plan to focus on developing our marketing process with emphasis on promoting the excellent benefits of being a member.  Aspects of “Marketing of the Forum” that I plan to implement are publicizing our meetings in a timely manner, having a strong presence at woodworking shows and other public events, and encouraging members to tell friends and people they meet about the Forum.  We need to articulate the benefits of being a member.  We offer excellent monthly programs, educational and skill building opportunities, a lending library, purchase discounts with local outlets, and, most important, the camaraderie of the Forum.  It is the camaraderie that turns a visitor into a member and keeps us all coming back.  When you see a person at one of our meetings that you don’t know, I encourage you to introduce yourself to them and to get to know them.

I believe that the Forum needs to proceed with incorporation.  In today’s society, a formal organizational structure is a requirement to conduct good business within the community.  I will be researching the different incorporation options that are available to us and will report back to you in a few months.

The Forum is our club.  I welcome your comments and suggestions for improving our club.  E-mail me, call me, or talk to me at a meeting.

I am looking forward to an exciting year for the Forum.

Tom Meeker
