November Meeting

When: Wednesday, November 20, 2002 Time: 7:00 p.m.

Where: 5610 Crawfordsville Rd., Speedway (see Map on Page 5 of Newsletter)

Environmental Management Institute, Inc, Training Room.

Speaker: Timothy Tucker, past President,

American Society of Home Inspectors, Indiana Chapter

Home Inspections and the Consumer.

Tim Tucker will be presenting a program on Home Inspections for our November meeting. Tim is a past president of the Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). He is President and Chief Inspector of Guardian Inspection Services, Inc of Lebanon, Indiana. He has personally performed over 4,500 inspections in his career. He writes a Question and Answer column for the Indianapolis Star on what to look for in a potential home, how to properly maintain a home, and the role of the home inspector.

A little about ASHI from their website (www.ashi.com). In 1976, a group of visionary home inspectors established the American Society of Home Inspectors, a not-for-profit membership organization. Their goal was to build consumer awareness of home inspection and to enhance professionalism by developing high Standards of Practice and a Code of Ethics.

Today, ASHI is the largest and most respected professional association for home inspectors in North America, with more than 5,800 members. ASHI's Standards of Practice, covering all of a home's major systems, are specifically noted in state and federal legislation and recognized by consumers as the definitive standard for professional home inspection.

If you know someone that is interested in checking out our organization,

you are encouraged to invite them to this program.

Environmental Management Institute, Inc. rents us their Training Room at the very reasonable cost of $45 a meeting. For this amount, we receive use of the meeting room, their electronic equipment, and the liquid refreshments. They also clean up our coffee cups and lemonade glasses.

To help us pay our rent, we pass the "hat" at each meeting. OK, usually it is a box that we pass around because no one has a hat available. Please, donate to help the club offset the cost of our excellent meeting facility.

In the past, a few people have been running these all along and the executive committee has realized that we need to appreciate and help them. A checklist has been developed for a chairman to set up for such Events. A summary will be captured from each event so we can learn and improve our presence.

ROCKLER

WOODWORKING AND HARDWARE

Dear Guild Officer,

It is getting close to the time for our ANNUAL CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY! We will be having the event on December 7th this year. This is the biggest event we have all year.

There will be sales representatives from Jet, Delta, and Porter Cable here from 10-2 that day. There will also be drawings for prizes, special sales, and of course, 25 % off any one non-power tool item. And speaking of Power Tools, I am working on a special promotion for this day with the Tool companies.

What I would like to ask of you is if you could put a note in your next newsletter concerning this event.

Thanks in advance for you help,

Paul Haag
